Vickie Daniel began portraying Madam C. J. Walker during Conner Prairie’s Black History program in 1993. Since then, she has brought Walker’s remarkable story to audiences at the Madam Walker Theatre, Dudley’s Cosmetology University, the Indiana Historical Society, the Indiana Statehouse, and numerous libraries, museums, conventions, schools, community centers, nursing homes, historical organizations, and business gatherings.

Her portrayal is grounded in extensive historical research, including work conducted at the Indiana Historical Society and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York. She also visited Villa Lewaro, Madam Walker’s historic estate in Irvington-on-Hudson, deepening her understanding of the woman behind the extraordinary legacy.

Based in Indianapolis, Vickie is a multidisciplinary Holistic Artist whose work bridges history, education, performance, wellness, and culture. She is a registered nurse and graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing, as well as a college educator, published writer, vocalist, actress, playwright, and licensed cosmetologist.
